If you've been taking the mrt during weekday mornings, you should have noticed that SMRT had hired people to regulate the peak hours' human traffic at the platforms.

Was on the train when one of the SMRT staff blew her whistle to get passengers move in, and nearby there was this man in formal dressing who had the stunned look on his face, almost like how a primary school kid would look like when the teacher is about to blast the class with a disciplinary speech.

And i started to wonder, Singaporeans... why does SMRT have to resort to hiring people to discipline passengers to be nice, to move in so that everyone else can also board the train? Why do we even need people to be stationed there to teach/ remind us such a simple action?

What is wrong with us man....

Look, nobody wants to be late, why not be a little more considerate for others?

This "phenomenon" is also commonly seen on other public transports like buses, where people who've gotten into the bus refuse to move to the back such that everyone else have to squeeze at the door in front.

Why???

P.S.: I am a Singaporean myself, maybe I'm assuming that the people who're not cooperating are also Singaporeans, but correct me if I'm wrong..

HAPPY DAY

Bought lots of things today!

Gotten the charcoal face mask from Daiso - It's finally back! But seems like the package size has shrinked. lol

Bought a cheap mini fondue set from IMM Giant - we were at Vivocity's Daiso earlier today and i was pondering about the idea of setting up a "D.I.Y" fondue set again (had thought of it some time back): was trying to find a bowl which could 1) sit stably on top of a candle holder that was supposedly meant for heating aromatic oils and 2) could withstand direct flame, abeit just a small flame. But we couldn't find any and so decided to abort that idea.

THEN!

Don't know what kind of bird luck strucked us, despite being all tired, we still went to IMM Giant Supermart. WE SPOTTED THIS DAMN CHEAP MINI FONDUE SET WHICH COSTS ONLY $2.99! OMGGGGGG!

You see, the reason why i almost pee-ed in excitement was coz i had always wanted to make/ own a mini fondue set, had done an online check and the cheapest fondue set i saw was $30+, and only this morning i was thinking again about the fondue set and THEN THERE IT WAS!

ALSO, cheap auntie like me was counting: IF i had managed to get a fitting bowl for the candle holder from Daiso, that's two items - $4. AND it would not be as aesthetic as an "authentic" fondue.

THIS MINI FONDUE COSTS ONLY $2.99! YEAAAA!!!!

Finally brought mum to the nice jap restaurant (suddenly can't remember the name) to try the Gyuniku Teriyaki at Vivocity! Had always wanted to bring her there!

Bought a cheap all-white plate from Daiso- I always dream about making nice-looking desserts though i haven't tried doing any except real simple ones like konnyaku jellies, oreo cheesecake (thanks to :) for recipe), pancakes and tang yuans. I am more interested in making the dish look nice than taste nice hahaha but these white plates can cost like $4+ at IKEA which i felt was a kinda too luxurious investment for my "three-minutes warm" dream. So when the Daiso lady started placing it onto the rack for sale....

I TOOK ONE IMMEDIATELY.

Also bought a top and a bottom, $10 each from Cotton on :))))

THANKS MAMA YOU MADE MY DAY :DDDDD

I have a question to all you girls who like to camwhore with your friends:

I know a lot of you out there photoshop your pics to touchup, to beautify yourself or whatever.

But the question is: How many of you actually bother to help photoshop your friend's face, body or so? If you do not use photoshop, then how many of you actually bother to "QC"? In a sense posting a photo which both of you look reasonably good, over a photo which you look damn chio and your friend has a face she herself deems ugly and would not post it?

How many of you think about that for your friends? How do you feel when you felt that you looked damn ugly in this particular pic and your friend posts it coz she looks chio on that pic?

You know, how many of you save your friend's ugly temporary butt face coz the camera just happened to be in the mood to uglify your friend?

Problem is, many of you claim to be close friends but are in fact not that close afterall that you would "protect" your friend like how you "protect" yourself. What i mean by "protecting' yourself is when you look thru all your camwhored photos and only post those you think you look pretty.

What is worse? you told your friend that you look ugly in that pic, and she uses that photo as her profile pic on some social network stuff coz she looks prettier beside your ugly face.

GREAT!

im so on-the-surface.

whatever.

hmm...

Haven't update for a while. Hmm.

School started already, and i'm having a presentation for next week! Currently in a dilemma.. because i'm still deciding between two modules...

Anyway, although i still choose to hold onto the perception that majority of the caucasians are quite friendly people, i've met some who're not really that nice. For instance, during my lecture today, i was having my breakfast (it's a piece of cake in a plastic bag). Alright.. you might be thinking, it's a lecture threatre, by right you're not supposed to eat.. yup, but seriously we've (my cohort) been doing this (for at least 3 years already) and even the lecturers (of various nationalities) are very understanding because they know that sometimes we do not have the time to eat. No one has ever complained about fumbling plastic bags "noise". Apparently, today, this lady caucasian who was sitting in front of me during the lecture got quite irritated by my "noise" that she raised her voice at me. Hmm.. what i felt was that you don't have to raise your voice to get something across, it could have been nicer if you asked politely, and if i continued, then i really deserve some warning. I felt that it also deducts a lot of points from the first impression you're giving people..

Why do i feel so bothered by it? :( maybe because it challenged my perception?

Bla bla bla... time to read papers.

i love my deardear

:((((( realized that i've always been temperamental to dear. damn stupid. dear is really gentle to me (just sometimes he becomes impatient) but most of the time he always talk to me so gently (apart from those make-fun-of-me thingy). =/ hate it when i get upset at my close ones over game stuffs, really damn stupid and not worth it. time to reflect on my stupid actions.

.......Hope dear is not angry with me. =/

AND i still owe deardear a supper!! :(((((

Out with K-neth!

Long post!

Went to a few places with K-neth today! haha. Alighted at Bugis Station and went over to the new building Illumina to check it out coz it's rather new. Was nice to walk around because there weren't many people shopping. We went to the arcade to take a look and saw this poor Doraemon with it's roundish leg stucked, facing backwards and upside down, in one of those Japanese Catching machine... haha.. and the strategy (i guess) was to push Doraemon such that the leg gets freed... ahh i'm not good with these catching machines but they are getting more and more creative, now they have plushies that are lying on poles and you have to push them down to win them. Cute huh haha. The arcade is really huge and a lot of the games have those flat screen monitor, guess they really invested a lot in it.

The door leading to the washroom was nicely blended with the walls, yet not too hidden that you can't find it. But the door was heavy... like those bomb-shelter doors lol. The washrooms i would say are quite nicely designed, with see-through glasses and furnished with simple stools at a corner. ok... why am i talking about washrooms?!

Did some window shopping around some of the stores before heading to Bugis Junction for lunch. Took me some time to choose what i wanted to eat.. haha the Korean BBQ store was selling Saba fish set for $6, but their BBQ Chicken + Saba Fish set was $6.90?! weird.. but i ordered that anyway.. abit oily though.. thought of eating Pepper Lunch but i guess, not today.

AFTER THAT........ we went to......

the NATIONAL LIBRARY!

Hahaha he suggested it, i was quite shocked coz i thought people don't usually like to hang out inside the library though sometimes i don't mind spending my time there sitting around looking at some books related to cooking, interior design.. Was browsing for something nice to read when i saw the category Child Psychology.. went to take a few books to read. Read abit of The Moral Intelligence of Children by Robert Coles and found it kinda interesting but.. i don't think i have slots to borrow books now. ~~ We actually spent quite a few hours there.

Then i thought of visiting the dessert store AhChew (intro by mei) at some alley (i don't know what's the exact street name but it's right opposite of Bugis Junction's old Bread Talk location), but we couldn't find it! He then suggest that we walk over to Suntec, where we had some really good but yet affordable food. Eventually mei did send me the store unit number for AhChew but then.. we were in Suntec already so next time!

Talking about good and affordable food, K-neth recommended a really nice place - ASTONS SPECIALITIES. Abit of burning-charcoal fragrance inside the restaurant.. subjective coz some people may not like it, but i think it helps a lot to emphasize that "hey we sell grilled food here!" Their slogan is "Quality & Value for money", and i think they do live up to it haha. They have lots of choices, and each of the main course you pick comes with two side dishes for you to choose. Main course (e.g. Teriyaki Chicken) + Onion Rings + Home Salad = $6.50! WHERE ELSE CAN YOU FIND SUCH A GOOD PRICE FOR SUCH GOOD TASTING FOOD? So we ordered our stuffs + drinks and the total was $18.30. This amount is usually a per-person equivalent when you dine at other more expensive restaurants. Highly recommended! Will definitely visit them again, thinking of bringing mum there next time :)

Then we went to arcade.. AGAIN haha. There were two middle-aged ladies (they were khakis!) sitting there pwning the tibits scooping machines with there mini bag-full of tokens.. hahaha.. cool. Wonder when i retire next time will i hang out at arcades like these ladies but the thing is, i havent even start working lol.

K-neth likes jigsaw puzzles la.. but i guess i don't have that amount of patience to complete one.. hahaha. Seldom see guys with lots of patience. :D Ever tried to do one with mei but... some of the pieces went missing and we sort of gave up lol.

Let's go out again soon! :)))

Guess my bro is right, i'm getting addicted to games again that's why i get upset when someone does this and that. Perhaps if i stop playing, i won't feel as bothered! :/

Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen

Went to watch Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen with puimao at Shaw, coz his company had an event and every employee were entitled to 2-3 free tixs! The movie was captivative (at least to me) and there were more funny moments that the previous episode. Would grade the movie 4/5 :DDD

After that we went to Heeren's Jack's Place for dinner. I ordered Steak & Fish Combo while puimao ordered Mixed Grill. Traded my fish for steak with puimao since he doesn't eat it. Their steak still taste as good as before :) Realize that most of the time when we go out with puimao, we always go to Jack's Place for meals! haha.. irony is puimao doesn't eat steak, guess puimao is really a very accomodative person.

Thanks puimao for the movie and the dinner treat!!! :DDD

:(

Finally get to rest at 12am. Was helping my friend to level up in game. I kept thinking and thinking, what do i gain or lose from doing this? HP/MP pots are provided for me to spam, so in a way i'm "funded".. that's good. But what am i losing...? Gave it a thought when i was bathing, i realized that what i lost was... TIME! I could have been doing sth else, could have use my character to provide spam service for other people of which i'll definitely earn more.. you know.. opportunity cost..

Eventually i thought.. why am i thinking of this? i'm helping a friend, shouldn't it be a nice thing and that i shouldn't be weighing the gains and losses? Why do i feel unhappy...?

I guess... it's because they got unhappy when i didn't help them immediately after i got Alex's character to max level? Alex offered to service his friend, so we had to use my character to do it. I remember my friend coming to my channel (probably tracking me) and heard from puimao that she wasn't happy because my character was with another person at the "spamming" map. She tried to pm me earlier on (plus another guy friend) and because i wasn't around, they got upset and felt that i was ignoring them. When i got back to them, i tasted sarcasm from her, and the other guy ignored me. Alex and i had already tried to speed things up by spamming overnight, but still they ignored me the next day. I even gave Alex blackface coz he wants to go out and i hope to spam for them asap. i dont know man...

Only puimao was understanding, he felt that i don't owe them a thing. i should help them only when i feel like it and it should not become like a sort of obligation.

Maybe it was the slightly nasty reaction that i had gotten from them that i felt i wasn't so willing to help them anymore? i don't feel that enthusiasm in me to rush level for them already.. Why... at that moment i felt like... "are we true friends..? Do things have to become so nasty just because of a game?"

i dont like sarcasm... it's hurting especially when it comes from people who are closer to me..

Out to Town

Went to watch Terminator Salvation with Alex yesterday. I think the show is alright, but just some few points that i couldn't understand.

1) They didnt explicitly explain why Kyle Reese is so important? Eventually John Connor mentioned that Kyle Reese is his dad. But why is he younger? Bro said somehow or rather one of them either traveled forward in time or went back in time.. but this is confusing.

2) Why was the Skynet's base so easily intruded? Shouldn't the base be heavily guarded since there's where they produce their robots? Ain't they afraid that the humans will come and destroy their factory line..??

3) There's so many T-800 around... but eventually it boiled down to only one T-800fighting Marcus and Connor. Where were the other robots?!

4) Why... was the T-800 an Arnold Schwarzenegger look-alike? Bro said T-800s were manufactured to look like that so by right all the T-800s should look like that. But my first impression was.. what's with the "Arnold Schwarzenegger" appearance? Is it like some tribute or parody? haha... ~~~

Hmm... maybe i didn't read up enough before watching the movie..

OH AND YESSSS Alex bought a LV wallet for himself. haa. and he was quite nice coz he was patient enough to shop with me when i said i wanted to go look at this shop... that shop... for clothes. But it also meant an opportunity for him to see girls. ARGH! stupid. He was weird coz he was enthusiastically asking me if anything had caught my eye... anything that i like? when we were shopping. Quite a rare phenomenon.. but i didnt pick anything anyway. Should have asked him for a coupon so that i can redeem my gift next time.

i dont like to be forced into doing sth

i dont like ppl to say that i'll do sth even before i agree to do it

.........

BUT

DO I HAVE A CHOICE?!

Chalet @ Downtown East

Long post!

Back from three days two nights chalet organized by my aunt and uncle! Had a lot of fun but also came back with some not-so-good "aftermath".

Day 1
Reached chalet at about 3? The first thing that i did was... TO SLEEP! ... for at least two hours? i think chalet is the best time where you can rest and stay up late too depends on what you wanna do haha. After that had BBQ right outside the chalet. My aunt and uncle booked three rooms, one for my family, one for themselves and one for my uncle's bro family. As our rooms were just beside Escape Theme Park's Go-Kart, there were lots of vroommm vroomm sound and i also went to peep coz there's only a wired fence blocking.

Day 2
Not sure if there's other outlets elsewhere but there's Fish&Co Express at Downtown East, selling Fish&Chips student meal (comes with fries and drinks) for only $4.50! Best part is that the deep fried fish tastes exactly like what they serve in their dining restaurants! thumbs up! Had my lunch there!

After that was.... Entertainment!! Spent the whole afternoon in Wild Wild Wet coz my aunt had complimentary tickets for us :D went in with my cousins, aunts and uncles. AND ONE HAPPY THING IS THAT mum bought me my first set of bikini!! LOL *excited* and its bottom happens to be G-string design (i like the bikini's design but i didnt choose it on purpose coz of the G-string). But anyway i wore it inside with my clothes and a swimming shorts on haha i dont dare to walk around the theme park in a bikini.

My cousin XL was really cute but i think i got abit shocked by her when she was shocked hahaha. Coz we tried a few stations like the Shiok River and the Kid's playground pool before.... we challenged Samsung?! (you know the V shape thingy ride where two person sit on a float then they push you down this really steep slope). I think my cousin (she's only 8 or 9 this year) didnt know what she was going to face, she was still all smiley when we were queueing up and helped me carry the crazy heavy float all the way upstairs. Even before we were pushed down the slope, she was still sitting opposite of me smiling. haha. ONLY WHEN WE WERE PUSHED DOWN...! then i started to see the transition of her expression:

:D :) :| :(

and she started T_T when we left the ride. OMG!!! tried very hard to pacify her though i was quite scared by the ride too hahaha after that she was abit timid to try the rest of the stations already >.< she said she hurt her back.. omg.. felt so bad and guilty man... but after that she seemed ok already after she was left awhile to play in the Kid's playground pool.. haha. cousin QL (XL's younger sis) cried because she couldnt join us for Samsung.. ~.~

The bravest of the day was cousin ZY, coz she played Samsung three times and yet she was still asking for more! twice was with my brave aunt K. Really admire her courage coz i was kinda chickened out haha and aunt K wanted to experience what her daughter QL felt and also wanted to encourage her so she took on the challenge... Bravo!

Cousin QL was really cute when we went to the Tsunami wave pool. She's a little small size for her age, so she had to sit on the float about 90 degrees (normally people just sit in with their butts resting in the hole of the float). Asked her to hold on tight as i brought her to slightly greater depths during the wave. She was like "weeee" and a lady passing by heard it and looked at her with an expression like "aww.. so cute" hahaha..

BUT BUT BUT the bad thing was... i didnt bring sunblock, so i'm abit tanned now (despite the weather not being really hot) and the skin on my face is slowly peeling... T.T moral of the story: ALWAYS BRING SUNBLOCK!

After my adventure at Wild Wild Wet, we had dinner (mei bought me Coffee Bean's "Ultimate Mocha" as recommended by Bro's gf N) and midnight bowling! I'm really noob at bowling haha, played three rounds, with the third round having the bumpers and i managed to "tyco-ly" did 3 spares in a row. HAHAHA bro is so much better at bowling =x

Day 3
Mainly pack up stuffs and check out, had to give Gelare a miss :( Went to walk around in Downtown East's NTUC as bro sent aunt and cousins back home. Mum and I were discussing that although the prices of items didnt drop, the package size for many products shrinked.. After that, bro drove us to have the famous Nasi Lemak at Changi Village! Not bad, but the eggs were deep fried, guess it would be healthier if it's pan fried but then again, Nasi Lemak isn't healthy food to begin with. haha and deep fried egg if mindlessly translated directly to chinese is "zha dan", which sounds like "bomb", lame....

Personal opinions on Downtown East's NTUC Resort and Goldkist Island Resort (previously Costa Sands @ East Coast)

So, after having stayed at both (Costa Sands @ East Coast being the chalet i've always been to since childhood), here's a simple comparison:

Convenience/ Accessibility:
DTE (Downtown East): Straight SBS bus from Tampines, just a few stops. Highly accessible. In terms of buying food for BBQ, there's NTUC right inside E-hub, so you can just buy whatever you want for BBQ and bring over to your chalet. Easy!

GK (GoldKist): I guess they removed the shuttle bus service after the change in management? So it's quite inconvenient to get to GK, although there's 401, it operates only on weekends. As for food for BBQ, i think the nearest is the NTUC at Bedok, so there's a bit of trouble coz you have to carry your stuffs for further distances.

Entertainment:
DTE: LOTS OF ACTIVITIES for friends and families! Besides the two main theme parks Wild Wild Wet and Escape, there's E-hub: with K-box opening till 2am during weekdays and 3am during weekends, Cathay for movies, Bowling! There's also a mini casino but i think it's only opened to NTUC members. There's this huge indoor playground (i can't remember the name) for kids too. There's also a mini ferris wheel! There's also arcade in E-hub.

GK: The main attraction of GK is the beach! DTE doesn't seem to have it as a main attraction, and i think it seems a little unclear to whether there's a beach nearby or if there is, how to get there. For GK, there's Futsal relatively nearby, and prawning. GK has SuperBowl nearby too. There's a mini arcade at the clubhouse but i guess the games there are very old games already!

Both resorts have bicycle-renting shops and swimming pools ~~

Room Facilities:
DTE: They have DVD player in the room so you can bring your DVD to watch movies (GK doesnt seem to have this)! What i felt a little impressed is that the toilet curtains were quite clean, means they either change it regularly or actually scrub it. Coz when my family went to GK's, the toilet curtains seems abit dirty and unlucky for us, the room that we gotten had its toilet piping a little malfunctioned. There's wireless internet access so you can bring your laptop if you wish to surf the net or so during your chalet stay haha. It's abit slow.. but why should there be any complaints since having it is better than not having internet access!

GK: I think depending on the room you get, TV quality may be good or not so good. They don't have DVD player in the rooms. There's no wireless internet access provided and i think if you need to use the internet, you have to pay and use the comps at the clubhouse ~~

Pricing:
DTE: Cheaper for NTUC members, which is good!
GK: Abit more expensive coz it's under private management i guess?

Food:
DTE: Lots of restaurants at E-hub and a foodcourt!
GK: Lagoon! the food there is good, and there are lots of seafood restaurants around there too. The main thing is the distance, but not very far, maybe about 10mins walk? GK has 2 tickets per day for complimentary breakfast!

Both have 24hours Macdonalds nearby too!

Hmm did i miss out anything? Let me think about it while i lie on my bed.. haha good night!

puimao's big help!

Haha i've gotten my maplestory's M'sian Boss helm, all thanks to puimaooooooo! :DDD he solo-ed the boss for about 3 hrs... initially i was just thinking of exploring around, check out the new boss coz i've not played the game for more than 1/2 a year. Then puimao decided to try to bring me into the map to see the b1 and b2 of the boss, and we were intending to leave at b3 coz he was concerned that we may not have enough pots. But when he reached b3, he was sure that he could defeat the boss by 2am (coz 2am's the server check time), so we stayed on and tadaa..! First was the Home-made pancakes, and when i say Home-made, i mean mixing ingredients from "scratch":

Home-made Pancakes (credits to Nigella.com's American Breakfast Pancakes)

I tried to play around with the amount of ingredients recommended by Nigella, so here's the amounts i used:

Ingredients used:

1) Plain flour (1 cup)
2) Low-fat Milk (3/4 cup)
3) Sugar (1 tablespoon)
4) Baking Powder (1 teaspoon)
5) Pinch of Salt
6) Egg (x1)
7) Butter (1 tablespoon)

How to do it:
1) Mix all the ingredients together until the mixture looks even. That's all!

2) Spread some butter on the pan, then spoon some of the mixture onto it. (Better to cook on medium fire)
3) Leave it for awhile, when the edges of the pancake looks alittle cooked (that means it doesn't look like a "liquid pulp" but look abit "solidified" instead), you can flip it to let it cook on the other side.
4) Cook the other side just for awhile and it's ready!

As recommended by Nigella.com: if you want the pancakes to spread around the whole pan, you can do so by adding more milk to the mixture.

What does this look like?

Bro tried a piece (without maple syrup) and say it could taste sweeter. Perhaps have to use more sugar next time? Then i talked to my Pro Aunt and she recommended me to use the "Aunt Jemima Original Pancake Mix" (available at NTUC). She told me that this mix makes the pancakes look nicer and taste more like those from Macdonald's. She also gave me the ingredients formula!

Ready-made Pancakes (using Aunt Jemima Original Pancake Mix)

Ingredients used:

And... the Female Lead: Aunt Jemima Original Pancake Mix! Does it look familiar?!

1) Aunt Jemima Original Pancake Mix (1 cup)
2) Low-fat Milk (3/4 cup)
3) Vegetable oil (1 tablespoon)
4) Egg (x1)

How to do it:
1) Beat the egg and pour it into the milk. Stir well.

2) Pour the milk-egg mixture into the bowl of Aunt Jemima Original Pancake Mix.

3) Mix the mixture till it looks even!

4) Add the vegetable oil into the mixture and mix well.

5) Spread some butter on the pan, then spoon some of the mixture onto it. (Also cook on medium fire. I've tried cooking on high, medium and low fire, shall post the pics later)
6) Look out for the bubbles on the pancake, when they start to "burst" slowly, you can flip the pancake to cook it on the other side.

Main differences

The cousins, side by side

- I guess i put too little baking powder for the Home-made pancakes, so comparatively, the Home-made pancakes didnt have as much bubbles as the Ready-made ones.
- The Home-made pancakes were flatter than the Ready-made ones.
- I guess the Ready-made ones tasted better than the Home-made ones.

Note: Remember to cook on medium fire!

Black: High fire; Brown: Medium fire; Yellow: Low fire.

If a person like me (who can't cook) can do it, so can you! It's easy! :D

Cute?

Would you be interested in buying these accessories?

:)

Coooook-ed

Just have this sudden urge to blog.
